28 Week Update & 2010: A Year In Review

Wow! 2011 is here :) I'm so excited because that means we are in the year our little baby girl will be born. I'm 28 weeks pregnant for one more day and I'm doing great. Sleep is becoming my biggest issue lately. I have no problems falling asleep, but I wake up and can't go back to sleep. I lie awake trying to get comfortable for hours almost every other night. Finally I just go lay on the couch and can usually fall asleep long enough for the alarm to go off. Maybe this is my body's way of preparing me for no sleep after she's born. We'll soon see.

Here is my 28 Week Bump Photo

Well since it's a new year I thought I would take a look back at 2010 and everything that happened. Which is a lot.

January started with a huge blow to my family. We lost my beloved granddaddy, Big Ern, to cancer on January 16, 2010. I can't believe it's almost been a year. I still miss him so much, but am so grateful for the time I got to spend with him while he was on this earth. He was such a great man.

At the end of January I attended my very first Gala at UMC and had a blast. Can't wait for this event again this year. It's on Jan 29th and I designed all the invitation stuff for it this year.

At the beginning of February I went to the Lubbock Ad Federations Annual Addy Awards. UMC took home 3 awards, but I anticipate much more wins this year.

Somewhere between Jan and Feb we decided to start trying to have a baby.

In mid February was the Laugh for the Cure event. I was on the committee for this event and it was so much fun to see all our hard work pay off. We brought in two comedians for a comedy night and had a live auction, survivor stories and a VIP hour all in the name of Komen and breast Cancer awareness. I'm on the commitee again this year and it's going to be great.

On March 21, 2010 Brandon and I celebrated our 1st anniversary. Hard to believe that we have been married for almost 2 years now and expecting a baby around the same time.

At the end of March Brandon I went on a family cruise to the Caribbean with Brandon's brothers and their wives and had a blast.

In May I decided enough was enough and sought medical help for my abdominal pain I was suffering from. That's when a final diagnosis of Endometriosis was confirmed.

On June 15th I had surgery to get rid of the Endometriosis and an uterine cyst. Brandon also had a hernia repair surgery.

My doctor then told me on my two week follow-up appt that NOW was the time to have a baby if we wanted to.

So we did! We found out we were expecting our first little baby on July 15, 2010!

At 5 weeks pregnant we went to Vegas for my friend Lindsey's wedding. It was like 115 degrees in Vegas :0

Then we went to Oklahoma for Brandon's family reunion and one of my best friend's, Kari's, bridal shower.

At the end of the summer Brandon launched his Pedi Cab business with his friend David. Everything has been going great with it so far. I'm really proud of him.

On August 6th my cousin Joel married his beautiful bride Sarah in Oklahoma City. So that was our second trip to Oklahoma in a month.

That's also when we told my brother and Brittany about the baby. They were excited!!!

At the end of August, Kari got married in Oklahoma and I was a bridesmaid. She was such a beautiful bride and I was honored to be a part of her special day. Even if morning sickness was in full force by then.

On August 28, 2010 my other great friend, Shanda, had her beautiful baby Adele. I missed the birth because Kari got married on the same day.

September and October are a blur because I was so sick from being pregnant. We did get to see our baby for the first time in late August.

I cried when I saw her for the first time. It was such a miracle. We heard her heart beat and had another ultrasound in mid September when I was 13 weeks.

Brandon and I had fun on Halloween.

On November 5th we found out baby Hughes is a little Girl. Hannah Kate Hughes!!!

Had a great time in Dallas for Thanksgiving. (sorry no pictures)

Went from this little belly to this bigger belly in a month.

Spent Christmas with the family and New Year's in my pajamas :)

2010 was such a busy, exciting, busy, heartbreaking, but wonderful year. Can't wait to see what 2011 brings.

28 weeks pregnant, 27 years old!!!

Today is my 27th birthday!!! I'm working today, boo :( Gone are the days when I was on break from school and could celebrate my birthday however I wanted. Oh well. I will be celebrating later tonight with my family. So that will be nice.

I'm also 28 weeks pregnant today and am officially in my 3rd Trimester! Wow it's going to fly by. 12 weeks or so and she'll be here. She is really moving around these days. I can actually see her moving if I look down at my belly. It's so crazy.

I went to the doctor on Tuesday and everything looks good. I passed my gestional diabetes test so that good. I'm also measuring right on track with my due date. Which probably means Hannah is weighing about 2 lbs. I got a shot and blood work drawn so it was a long appointment compared to most of mine. I go back in two weeks. I have my first baby care class on Jan 13th. We will be learning all sorts of things on how to take care of our little one from bathing to feeding to child care safety. Should be good.

Well I guess that's it for now. I thought I would post a bump progression since I didn't have any new photos to post since Christmas. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year. This will be my last post til 2011!

This is my growing belly weeks 13 through 27, Wow :)

Christmas 2010

Well we had an enjoyable Christmas this year. It all kicked off Wednesday evening with Christmas with my dad. My brother and Brittany were in Lubbock Wednesday night and Thursday so we got together with my dad Wednesday. We ate at their favorite spot Orlando's, and went over to dad's afterwards to open gifts. Dad was too generous and got Brandon and I a Kodak video camera which we had been looking at buying for ourselves. Hopefully I will be able to load videos soon to my blog. This will come in handy when Hannah comes as well.

Thursday night we celebrated Christmas with my brother and Britt again at a Mexican feast hosted by my mom.

Friday, Christmas Eve, was super low key. Brandon had to work part of the day, but I just stayed in my pajamas most of the morning and watched movies. Brandon got off work and we were out running around a bit and were planning on going to the grocery store when he ran out of gas. Luckily we weren't too far from the house so he jogged back and got my car. What a funny guy! We went to Christmas Eve church service at 5 and then came back home and exchanged gifts to each other. Brandon got his Kindle which he's in love with and I got my diaper bag which I really wanted as well.

Christmas Day we took it easy. We went over to Brandon's brother's house that morning to see what the kids got for Christmas and went over to my mom's for Christmas lunch and presents. It was just four of us, but we had tons of food and a great time.

Sunday was Brandon's family's Christmas out and Brandon's dad's house in Shallowater. The brothers had fun shooting each other with rubber pellet guns. Very typical Hughes' behavior :) Overall we had a great Christmas, but agree next year will be even better with our little Hannah!

Speaking of Hannah, I'm 27 weeks 5 days today!!! Moving into the 3rd trimester and feeling good. I have a doctors appointment today where they will check for gestational diabetes and give me a shot because I'm RH negative. Wish me luck!

26 Week Update

Christmas is practically here and it's so hard for me to believe. I remember thinking back in July-August when we found out we were going to have a baby that I would be 27 weeks pregnant at Christmas time. And here we are already. It's going by so fast these days. I'm almost to my third trimester, which is a good thing because that means it's the home stretch, but a bad thing because I know it just means I'm going to be getting bigger and more uncomfortable.

Yesterday I went and talked to the birthing center at the hospital and got all pre-registered to be admitted. I also got information on classes I'll be taking including childbirth, baby care, and breastfeeding so that was good. I love our hospital and love all the services UMC provides. It's so comforting for first time parents, such as ourselves, who don't know what we're doing.

Hannah's nursery is pretty much on hold for now. Once her bedding comes in I'll be more inclined to work on it some more. I just love going in there and thinking about her. I can imagine her as a little girl playing on the floor with her dolls and it just makes me smile. After the holidays we will go register for my baby shower which will be the last weekend in January. Can't wait :)

Well that's it for now. We will be celebrating Christmas several times over the next few days starting tomorrow night with my dad, brother, and Brittany. Should be a great time :) Merry Christmas!!!

25 Weeks and 100 Day Count Down!!!

Well I'm 25 Weeks and 5 days pregnant today. 100 days from today is my due date. That's so exciting!!! Let the count down begin. Well not much changed in a week except me. I feel like I gained some more weight. I'm feeling large these days, but my doctor assures me that rapid weight gain during this stage of pregnancy is completely normal. Brandon keeps telling me that I look beautiful and I'm pregnant not fat, but it's just like I woke up one day and I was huge. And I know I'm only going to get bigger. I feel great and Hannah is doing amazing so I guess it's just the sacrifice I have to make to have a healthy baby, but it has been a "huge" adjustment for me.

25 Week Bump Photo

In other news Hannah's nursery is starting to take shape. The walls are painted, the crib is assembled, the curtains I ordered just came in last night and we hung those.

They really brighten the room. What doesn't brighten the room is the ugly blinds that came with the house when we bought it. They are so crummy and dingy and we will be replacing those sooner than later.

We also got her dresser that will double as a changing table last week. I love it! We got it off Craigslist and it looks brand new, but a brand new one from Ikea costs $300 and we paid $125 :)

Originally I was going to paint the dresser, but the finish on this one is so nice that all I decided to do was change out the hardware. And as luck would have it I found the yellow and white knobs while out Christmas shopping at World Market on Sunday. I loved them and they were on sale!!!

I also love it because the drawers are already lined in yellow and white paper. So great!!! I really think this was a steal.

Also her crib sheet and changing pad cover came in last night from the same company I got the curtains from.
I can't wait to see how it all comes together.

I found a great addition in my linen closet of all places. A crocheted blanket that was given to us as a wedding present. It's really colorful and super soft, but I never knew what to do with it. It looks perfect in her room.
Also, I got a couple of light switch plates from Hobby Lobby on sale that look great on the walls as you enter the room.

Can't wait for her bedding to come in. It should ship in January some time. Well that's it for now.

Little This, A Lot of That

Well this is going to be a super long post. I have so much to talk about.

First lets start with Christmas Stuff. It's really beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Hughes house, except for the whole presents under the tree thing. Ha! Last week I decorated the inside of the house including both of our trees, our dinning room, the mantel and Brandon put up all the lights on the house. I love seeing it all come together. Here are some pics.

This is my centerpiece on the dinning room table. I just got cheap cardboard boxes and wrapped them in scrapbook paper that looked like wood and then made fake floral arrangements in them. I got the stems from on sale at Hobby Lobby. Then just placed them on mirrors and gathered pine cones, little red ornaments and candle holders I already had to fill in the spaces. I really liked how it turned out.

Last weekend we got started on Hannah's room. Yay!!! I got her bedding ordered which I'm so excited about, along with some other things that should come in within the next few weeks. We chose her paint color, finally, and got it up on the walls. It's called Jamaican Aqua. I'm so excited to have the room painted. This room has been a blank slate since we moved in and it's so nice to finally have a purpose for it. We also emptied out her closet and I'm most excited that we got to set up her crib which has been sitting in a box in our garage for several weeks. Here is the progress.

Yes I realize that I'm 6 months pregnant standing on a ladder painting. A big "no no" I'm sure, but I was careful. We got paint that was low in VOCs so less toxic odors that could be harmful for me and the baby. We also had the window opened to ventilate the room. Just in case any of you were concerned.

I also painted this trunk to match the walls that Brandon and I found for $50 at an antique mall that we planning on storing toys and such in.

Finally a 24 week baby update. I'm 24 weeks and 5 days pregnant today. Only 107 days til my due date. Very excited. I'm getting bigger, but I feel great! I'm able to still do everything I want I just have to take breaks and know my limitations. Baby is just kicking and moving like crazy and I love that. Brandon has been able to feel her and that is really awesome. I found out today that I'm more than likely going to be able to take off 8 weeks after the baby's born and between my extended illness pay and Aflac pay I should be good. So that's a relief. Just one less thing for me to worry about. Well that was a super long post. I told you it would be. I'll leave you with my 24 week baby bump photo.

23 Weeks!!! Made It, Just Barely

Well since it is my last day of being 23 weeks pregnant, I thought I'd better get this blog in. We were in Dallas over the weekend and I hadn't really recovered from that yet. Our trip was good. Hopefully I can post some photos soon.

We were suppose to fly to Dallas, but as I was checking in for our flight the day before I noticed I booked for us to leave at 9:30am Thanksgiving Day from Dallas heading to Lubbock and our return flight from Lubbock to Dallas on Saturday. Major OOPS!!! Can't believe I did that and can't believe I didn't catch it before then. I blame it on pregnancy brain vomit.

Well after talking to the airline and finding out to change the flight was going to cost us about $250 on top of what we had originally paid, we decided driving to Dallas was our only option. Ugh!!! So we got up around 5:30am Thursday and headed to the city. We got there around 11:30am so it wasn't too bad. We got to bring Teensy with us too which we weren't planning on, so it all worked out.

Coming back from Dallas was a little more hard on me. I was super tired when we got back home. I took a 2 hour nap and went to bed around 9pm. I didn't even stay up to see Tech beat Houston in our last game of the season. Oh well.

Sunday we spent the day hanging up Christmas lights and putting up our trees. Everything is beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Hughes house. I love decorating. I'll post pictures soon.

Tomorrow I'm 24 weeks!!! It's hard to believe than less than 4 months our little angel will be here. It was really crazy to think that this time next year she'll be 8 months old. Wow!!!

Here is my 23 week baby bump pic. I think I really look pregnant now. What was a small bump is now big and I really can't hide it anymore.
