Hannah Kate 28 Months Old

Hannah turned 28 months old yesterday. Wow it's been a long time since I've done a monthly Hannah Kate post. It's not that I don't want to keep up with all her milestones, but I really haven't felt very well for the last few months because of the new baby and she won't sit still long enough anymore to snap photos of her. But I did manage to get a few in the last few months so I thought I would post those now and give a little update.
28 Month Stats:
  • Weight: 26lbs
  • Height: 34.5"
  • You have curly dark blonde hair and beautiful blue green eyes. Your hair has really grown out in the last few months and your eyes are turning more green.
  • You wear 2T clothes mostly but can fit into 24 months still too.
  • You wear a size 4 diaper.
  • You really haven't been interested in potty training. I think the best thing for us is to buy the underwear and just do it one weekend. You would rather play on the potty instead of actually using it.

  • You are still so shy at times and become very anxious around people you don't know and aren't comfortable with. It can be embarrassing at times. I know it's just a stage and something you will grow out of eventually.
  • You wear a size 7 shoe. You hate wearing sandals and have a melt down anytime I try to put them on you. Your are very sensitive about your feet. You say they hurt all the time. I think if this continues we'll bring it up the next time we're at the doctor.
  • Speaking of doctors, on July 4th you got a bladder infection :( No fun at all. I'm so glad you could communicate with us though to tell us it hurt to pee. Otherwise we wouldn't have known.
  • You go to bed around 8pm and sleep til about 6:30-7:30am. But getting you to go to sleep is so hard. It's been easier this week, but ever since we moved you to a toddler bed, you think bed time is play time and love to get out of it 20 times before you actually go to sleep. Some nights your asleep by 8:20 but other nights its more like 9pm. It wears on this pregnant mommy for sure.
  • You are a daddy's girl. You love him so much and always want to know where he is.
  • You are a pretty picky eater. You love to snack but don't eat very much. You do love your breakfast food though. Waffles, pancakes and muffins are your favorites.
  • You still drink almond milk but really only at breakfast and dinner.
  • You have really enjoyed summer. You love being outside and going to the park. You love your pool, running around the yard, playing with our neighbor's daughter Violet, pushing your little cars around, sidewalk chalk, popsicles, and chasing the dog.
  • You hate having your teeth brushed. You like to hold your tooth brush but it's a struggle to brush them every night. However, you have the most gorgeous teeth I've seen on a toddler. Perfectly straight and bright white. Hopefully we won't need braces in the future.
  • Now lets talk talk. You are a chatter box. You love to talk and are so expressive around us. You say new things all the time. Here are the little expressions you like to say often: "Oh goodness," "Oh my," "That's funny," Hannah's funny," " What ya doing," "Who's that," "What's that?" "No, no, no, no, right," "I hold you," "Get down Teensy," "I see you," "I get it," "I do it," "That's good," "I'm crying," "Want some," and "I see you." You are very dramatic at times and don't have any problems expressing yourself verbally. Ha!
  • You can count and know all your colors and can sing your ABC's, Twinkle, Twinkle, and Jesus Loves Me. Whether you do it for us when we ask you to is another story though.
  • You haven't been sick all summer except for the bladder infection PTL!
  • You really are turning into a little person before our eyes. So fun to watch.
I love my big girl so much. She truly is a blessing to us. Her world is going to change come December with the arrival of her new sibling, but I know we will adjust in time. For now, I will cherish my precious little two year old and all the new things she's accomplishing day by day.

San Antonio Trip

Back in May we took a trip to San Antonio and New Braunfels for my co-worker's wedding. We had a great time and everything was beautiful. Traveling with a toddler is never an easy task, but she does pretty well as long as she has her snacks and movies. Portable dvd players are a lifesaver on long road trips.

Before the wedding we stopped off in San Antonio for some sight seeing and family fun. We took a trip to the San Antonio Zoo and stayed on the Riverwalk. It's a great place to take your kids on vacation.

On our way to the wedding in New Braunfels, we stopped by the Vineyards Restaurant outside San Antonio. This is the place we got engaged 5 years ago.
Then we had some time to kill so we decided to go to Natural Bridge Caverns Wildlife Ranch. This place was awesome. We got to drive around in our car and feed the animals out the window. It was truly an unique experience. And Hannah Kate loved it. So did her Mommy, especially the giraffes.
San Antonio is such an awesome vacation spot in Texas. I loved going there growing up and visiting my grandparents. Now I'm experiencing the city in a whole new way with my own family. I hope we take many more trips there in the future.

17 Weeks

I'm 17.5 weeks pregnant. Only 2.5 weeks and I'll be half way to the finish line. Wahoo! I'm finally feeling better and having a better outlook on this pregnancy again. People who've never experienced  severe morning sickness like I did will never understand the trial it takes on you both mentally and physically. I was sick everyday from week 6 to week 16 with this pregnancy. It was really tough, but I've made it through. I couldn't have done it without the help of my wonderful husband and my mom who helped me out so much with Hannah when I couldn't.

Here’s what’s happening in Week 17:

Weight Loss/Gain? I went to the doc last week and I've gained 5lbs total so far. Too much yummy 4th of July food.

Cravings: Salads, fruit, cheese, peppers, pickles, and chips and salsa. I'm really working hard to stay away from sweets. I'm hoping to not gain as much weight this pregnancy and sweets just stick to me. Ha!

Aversions: I really don't have to many except I can't stand the smell of bar-b-q or strong spicy stuff. I'm also still hating the smell of air fresheners and our dish soap.

Miss Anything?
Maybe drinking wine. Other than that not really.

Gender: We find out Aug 5th!!! I still don't really have a clue what we are having. I can picture my life with another girl, but having a boy would be a new and exciting adventure. I really just want a healthy baby. We have chosen a girl name and a boy name so whenever we do find out I'll announce the name :)

Favorite Moment this Week: Having some energy again and Brandon hearing the baby's heartbeat for the first time. It was a strong 142bpm.

Sleeping: I'm back sleeping in our room. We got new sheets and I'm sleeping like a baby.

Stretch Marks? Not yet. I hope I don't get any. I only got a few with Hannah at the very end of pregnancy.

Workout:
I've started walking every night around 6pm for about 30 minutes. It's been very therapeutic and has really helped with the aches and pains I'm getting now that I've hit my second trimester. I hope this will pay off for me in the third trimester when I'm really feeling stretched out.

Clothes: Most all my regular clothes still fit, but they're getting tighter by the day. I feel most comfortable in loose dresses and leggings.

Most looking forward to:
Brandon's family reunion this weekend in Ruidoso and feeling the baby kick soon.

15 Weeks

I'm definitely off on my posting this week. I have been thrown for a loop once again with this pregnancy. I woke up on Wednesday morning with a terrible sore throat and a headache. By noon it was so terrible that I decided to take off the rest of the afternoon and rest. By Wednesday night my head was throbbing, I was achy and had a 101 fever. I couldn't keep much down and I was getting worried so I called my doc. She basically told me to keep doing what I was doing and if it got worse go to the ER. I went to bed and woke up around 2am with the worse body chills I've ever had. My fever was back up and I was hurting. That went on for 2 hours. Finally I went back to sleep. I stayed home Thursday and went to see my doctor that afternoon and got checked out and got some meds. The baby was fine and I'm feeling much better today. But being sick with a sinus infection while pregnant is no fun at all. I can't take anything I would normally take and basically rely on my Neti Pot and cough drops. I'm still pretty congested, but hopefully will be back to normal soon.

Here’s what’s happening in Week 15:

Weight Loss/Gain? I think I back up to +1 pounds.

Cravings: Food has gotten better. I'm able to eat more, but I really don't have any strong cravings yet.

Aversions: Like I said food has gotten better this week for me. I've branched out from my usual oatmeal, grilled cheese and chicken salad diet and tried some new stuff. My nose is so sensitive still that if I smell something weird it still makes me gag. I can't stand the strong odor of our dish washing soap and Brandon's deodorant.

Gender: Won't find out til first week of August. I go back and forth to what I think it is.

Favorite Moment this Week: Not throwing up everyday. But last week was really tough so it's hard for me to pick a favorite moment.

Sleeping: I'm sleeping in the guest room right now, because it's the quietest, coolest, and most comfortable place for me to sleep. Did this when I was pregnant with Hannah too.

Clothes: Most all my regular clothes still fit, but they're getting tighter by the day.

Most looking forward to: Fourth of July weekend and hanging out with my family.

13 Weeks

Today I'm 13 weeks. Almost to the second trimester and only 6 months to go. Wow! We are so excited to be having this little one, but I'm so busy taking care of Hannah, working full time, and feeling sick everyday that I haven't had much time yet to focus on this pregnancy. I'm sure that will all change once we find out what we are having and start planning.

Here’s what’s happening in Week 13:

Weight Loss/Gain? As of my last dr. appt., I had lost a pound. I'm sure that hasn't changed much because I've been really sick this week.

Cravings: I don't really crave to much. It's more like what sounds good in the moment. I can tolerate baked potatoes, sandwiches, chicken, breakfast food and fruit.

Aversions: I can't stand most food right now. Mexican, Italian and Bar-B-Q are big no no's. Also I can't stand sweets or salads. I can't handle Brandon cooking inside so he's be grilling a lot outside. Hopefully this will all be over soon.

Gender: Won't find out til first week of August. I go back and forth to what I think it is.

Favorite Moment this Week: Seeing the baby on ultrasound on Tuesday. We had out 1st trimester screening. All looked good on ultrasound. Should get blood results back soon. BTW the ultrasound tech was a real downer. I know she looks at little babies all day long, but this is an exciting time for us. I thought she could been a little more friendlier.

Sleeping: I have no problem falling asleep. However, HK has decided she wants to wake up in the middle of the night every night and it really interrupts my good sleep. I'm feeling really tired all the time.

Clothes: Most all my regular clothes still fit. I have brought out the belly band a few times.

Most looking forward to: Not being sick all day every day and getting some energy back.

I'm Back With A Big Announcement!!!

Well I took a little blogging hiatus after Hannah turned two. And now you will all know why.

It's because...

We're Pregnant, Again!!!

I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and my official due date is December 20th. That's right, a little Christmas baby. We're going to be busy.

So far everything is going great. I've been feeling very similar of how I felt when I was pregnant early on with HK. I have nausea almost everyday. Some days are better than others, but this whole week has been pretty rough. Every hour was rough when I was pregnant with HK. Ha!

I felt like I was pregnant the second week of April. I took a test on Friday, April 12th and saw this.
Unfortunately Brandon was out of town on a fishing trip and I didn't want to tell him over the phone. He came back the next evening as I was getting ready to put Hannah to bed. I was planning on having her wear her Big Sister shirt I bought her that morning, but he walked into the house before I could get it on her. So I just said this is a new shirt I bought Hannah today. He took a triple take and said "really?" "you are?" He was so excited.

We've chosen to spread the word by using this pic ever since. Pretty fun.

We had an ultrasound a few weeks back. Baby was really small, but it was a relief to find out early it was only one baby. After my brother's big news about twins last year I was really hoping not to find out the same news for myself.

Baby looked great so far. Heart rate was 153bpm. Hannah's was at 170bpm at her first ultrasound.

We won't find out the sex of the baby til the end of July or early August. We really don't care either way what we are having. I think it would be fun to have one of each, but I have everything I need for a girl so it would be nice to use those great hand-me-downs from big sis. Either way this is the last, I repeat last baby for the Hughes family. I'm done being pregnant. I think it's a miracle we have been able to have these babies, but pregnancy isn't so kind on my body.

We thought long and hard after Hannah was born whether or not to have a second child. I wasn't sure if I could emotionally go through it all again. It took 18 months after HK was born for me to even consider it. And another 6 months after that to really decide to go for it. In the end, we really wanted her to have a sibling. I love having a sibling and I want that for her too.

I think we are way more prepared this time around and hopefully everything will go smoothly this pregnancy and delivery. I'm planning on doing weekly or maybe bi-weekly pregnancy updates like I did with Hannah. I'll start that in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I can keep it up.

Thank you for all your love and support. We are so excited to be growing our family :)

Be Back Soon

I'm on a blogging hiatus. Be back soon with updates :)
