Hudson Jacob Half a Year Old!!!

Wow! Can't quite believe my sweet boy is 6 months already. It really did fly bye. It went by way faster than the first 6 months with Hannah for sure. I'm sure the next 6 months will too and before we know it, it will be December and we will be celebrating his first birthday. Eeek!!!

This month turned out to be a huge month for our little guy. He's really changing every day now. Here are his 6 months stats.

6 Month Update

Weight: 18 lbs 8oz
Height:
26.5 inches

Features: Your eye color is a mystery to me. Sometimes they look dark blue and other times green with flecks of brown. Lets just say they're gorgeous :) You have light brown hair, chunky thighs and lots of dimples. You now have 2 bottom teeth. You look more like your daddy to me this month and less like your sister did at this age.

Clothes: You wear mostly 6 months clothing. Some 3-6 months things still fit but are getting pretty snug. You can wear some 9 month things but they are a little big.

Sleep: After a wonderful week of all night sleep, you started waking up again all night long. You continued to suffer this past month from an ear infection as well as teething and it really messed up you sleep cycle. On a good night, you wake up once around 3am and go back to sleep til 7am. I appreciate those nights very much. You take about 3 naps a day and they range from 30 minutes to 2 hours in length. You are really easy to put down to sleep. You sleep on your tummy most of the time and take a paci when you sleep. It's the only time you will take a paci.

Eating: You eat 5-6 oz bottles usually around 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm & 7pm. We discovered last month that you have a milk protein allergy. So we just switched you to soy formula. It seems to be helping already with the constant runny nose and the eczema break outs on your back. You also started eating more solids a couple of weeks ago. Sweet potatoes are your favorite. You've also tried applesauce, green beans and bananas. You didn't care much for those.

Likes: You still love being held, rocked, soothed, your bath, eating, your play mat, playing patty-cake and walking around the house. Mommy is your favorite ;). You think daddy is pretty funny too. The baby carrier is a good way to get you to calm down when I'm shopping. You also like it when I sing to you and do the "wheels on the bus". You think your sister is pretty great. I can just put you next to her and instantly you calm down and start smiling. You really started interacting with each other this month.

Milestones: You had a big milestone month this month.

You cut your bottom two teeth. They look so cute. I wasn't expecting teeth so soon because your big sis didn't get her first tooth until she was 8 months.

You also learned how to roll over. You are getting really good at it too. I put you down on your tummy and you roll to your back before I can blink. You've also rolled from back to tummy a few times too.

You are learning to sit up without falling over. You are a larger baby so this might take a couple more months to perfect. But we are working on it.

You are getting really good at grasping things in your hands. You pull on my hair every chance you get. Ha! You are "talking" a lot more too.

And laughing all the time. It just makes me so happy to hear the sweet sounds you make.

Hudson you are the love of my life. I can't even begin to express how complete you make me feel. I love having you as my boy. Some of my favorite times are just rocking and holding you. I know you won't be a baby forever so I'm cherishing these moments with you. You are so sweet and loving. My prayer is that you will grow up strong, happy and always be kind to others. I want you to know how much you are wanted and loved.

Hannah Kate Update

Remember this post from back in November when Hannah had to go to the Emergency Center because of a febrile seizure. Well it happened to us again, but this time it was scarier and a lot worse than before.

This past Saturday we were at my mom's house eating lunch. Hannah had felt a little warm to me that day, but nothing I was too concerned about. She was acting normal and not showing any signs of sickness. We sat down for lunch and she was talking about how she loved chicken and seemed to be in good spirits. All the sudden she got down from the table and was squatting on the floor. She was really quiet which is very unusual for her.

After a few minutes I picked her up and took here into the bathroom. I sat her on the toilet and talked to her. I asked her to talk to me, but she couldn't. Her eyes were glazed over and she seemed out of it.

I picked her up and laid her on my mom's bed. Brandon noticed she was hot so we put a wash cloth on her head and turned the fan on to try and cool her down, but she wasn't responding so I called 911. By the time EMS arrived she had been seizing for about 10 minutes. She was put in the ambulance where she was administered medicine to stop the seizure and Tylenol to bring down her 102 temp. We were told to follow the ambulance to the hospital.

When we got to the ER she had just stopped seizing. So the total time was 40 minutes. Last time it was only around 4 minutes. A lot different this time.
EEG Procedure
In the emergency room she was pretty out of it. She was not talking to us or opening her eyes. We were very concerned at this point. The doctors decided to admit her overnight for observation and to run some more tests. It was the longest 24 hours of my life. I spent the night with her in the hospital and Brandon went home to stay with Hudson. My mom had been taking care of him all day Saturday so we could be with HK at the hospital.

Hannah woke up around 5am the next morning and was really confused and wanted to leave. They had an IV in her hand and she wanted to pull it out. Since it was the weekend the playroom at the children's hospital was closed. Such a bummer. That was her biggest complaint. She desperately wanted to go in there and play. They did open it so she could get a doll house to play with in her room, but that only kept her busy for a little while. It was really hard to keep her happy on Sunday. She had a big meltdown around midday. They decided to let us go home around 2pm and she fell asleep soon after they took out her IV. In the end all her tests came back clear.

That night she was still wobbly and not quite herself. But she's getting better every day. We had a follow up visit with her pediatrician who is referring us to a pediatric neurologist. We'll see how that goes. Maybe this was nothing, but it could be something. We just need to find out for sure.

I'm tired, feel pretty overwhelmed and stressed. This is not how we were planning to spend Father's Day weekend. It's good to be back at work today though and back to a normal routine. I know God has big plans for our sweet girl. Please pray for her and our family.

Hudson Jacob is 5 Months Old!!!

How is it possible that my little guy is already five months. It's going by so fast. It's hard to believe that in a few short weeks he will be half a year old. We had a pretty rough 4th month. Like I said last post we went in for his four month well check up and he had an ear infection. He was put on antibiotics and they checked his ears again two weeks later. He still wasn't good after two weeks so he went on another round of 10 day antibiotics that were stronger. Both medicines made him very constipated and his poor tummy made him so uncomfortable. He's been pretty miserable for the last 3-4 weeks. However, this Sunday we finally turned a corner and he's feeling better. We went back to the doctor on Wednesday and all is well again. He was so playful and happy at the doctor's office until he had to get his shots. Poor baby :( Here are his stats for month #5.

4 Month Update
Weight: 17 lbs 15oz
Height:
26 inches

Features: You have dark blue eyes with flecks of green, light brown hair, chubby cheeks & thighs and lots of dimples.

Clothes: You wear mostly 6 months clothing. Some 3-6 months things still fit but are getting pretty snug. You can wear some 9 month things but they are a little big.

Sleep: I'm hoping now that you are well you are turning a corner in the sleep department. You have only been getting up once a night most nights and slept from 7a-7p for the past 3 nights! I'm hoping this continues :) Speaking of sleep, some of my most precious moments with you are rocking you to sleep. It's something I look forward to every night. I pray over you every night and you fall asleep in my arms. It's so precious. I treasure this time I have with you because I know soon you will be too big for me to rock you.

Eating: You eat 5-6 oz bottles usually around 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm & 7pm. If you wake up in the night to eat it's usually around midnight. You have tried rice cereal a few times now and are indifferent about it. You mostly spit it out. The big news this month is that we switched your formula. We were using the Similac Advanced but with your tummy issues we decided to change you this weekend to Enfamil Gentlease. It seems to be sitting with you so much better. It's so hard to know what to do in those situations, but for now it seems to be the best decision. You are so much more of a happy baby when your tummy isn't upset.

Likes: You still love being held, rocked, soothed, your bath, eating, your play mat, playing patty-cake and walking around the house. Your mommy is still your favorite ;). You think daddy is pretty funny too. You are a big baby so it's hard for me to carry you around but we manage for a little while. We also discovered this weekend that you love the outdoor swing. You love motion so this doesn't surprise me. You were so comfortable in it you fell asleep for a while. So cute.

Dislikes: About the same as last month. Being hot, when mommy puts you down, 5pm-6:30pm (it's the witching hour and you cry a lot during this time) tummy time when you're working on strengthening your neck muscles. You also hate it when I get you out of your bath and are naked. You scream and cry every night.

Milestones: You are growing and getting stronger every day. You started laughing a lot more and it's so cute! You can bear more weight on those chunky thighs and love to stand. You are laughing all the time now and it's soooooo cute!!! You blow bubble and are starting to "talk" a lot. You haven't rolled over yet but are getting better at tummy time. You still are pretty lazy about it though. I asked the doctor today about it, but she said she isn't too concerned because you have great muscle tone and head control. I can't wait for you to be able to sit up without falling over. I think that is such a cute stage for babies. But for now I will just love on you and enjoy these last few months of infancy. It will be gone before we know it.

Hudson Jacob you are the light of my life. You make me so happy. I didn't know I could love another baby as much as I love your big sister, but you proved me wrong. You are the sweetest little ray of sunshine. You complete our family so well. The icing on the cake so to speak. Thank you Lord for our precious boy.

Hudson 4 Months Old

Four months came and went and I'm just now finding time to blog about it. This month was a little challenging for us. Hudson has been sick for the last couple of weeks and isn't eating or sleeping very well. I'm emotionally and physically worn out. We went in last week for his well check and discovered that he wasn't well. He's had a cold for a while now, but it turned into an ear infection, he's really congested and having stomach issues. Hopefully he will be feeling a lot better soon and life will be a little easier. Here are his stats for month #4.
4 Month Update

Weight: 16 lbs 12oz
Height:
25 1/4 inches

Features:
You have dark blue eyes, light brown hair, chubby cheeks & thighs and lots of dimples
.
Clothes: You are pretty much out of 3 month old clothes and are in mostly 3-6 and 6 month clothes. You are really long so 3-6 month pjs  and onsies are getting a little too snug. It seems like you're growing all the time. Which means I'm constantly putting clothes away that you only wore like 2 times. So sad :( I am excited about all the cute summer clothes we have for you to wear though. You also wear a size 2 diaper but they are getting snug.

Sleep: You really haven't made too much progress in the sleep department. You slept through the night, 7:30pm-7am, 3 nights in a row a few weekends ago and then decided not to sleep well anymore. It was such a let down. On good nights you only wake up once around 3am and go back to sleep til 7am. Other nights you wake up twice and some nights more. But that just might be because you haven't been feeling well. I don't think you like to be swaddled anymore. You preferred sleeping position is on you belly with you arms stretch out above your head and a blanket covering your back. So that's what we are doing right now. Hopefully once your over this sickness, your sleep will improve. You also take 3 naps during the day.
You take 1 hour long nap around 9am, an 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour nap around 11:30am and an hour long nap around 3pm. You like to sleep during the day still.

Eating:
You eat 5 oz every 3 hours during the day.We will start rice cereal next month after you turn 5 months old. I did this with Hannah and I feel it's best for you. You seem satisfied with just formula for now so I'm in no hurry.

Likes:
You still love being held, rocked, soothed, your bath, eating, your play mat, playing patty-cake and walking around the house. Your mommy is still your favorite ;). You track your sister whenever she's in the room. She facinates you. You are kinda outgrowing your love for your swing and that stinks. It use to be my go to place for you to calm you down. You also have a love hate relationship with your paci. I wish you would take it better, but most of the time you just spit it out.

Dislikes: Being hot, when mommy puts you down, 5pm-6:30pm (it's the witching hour and you cry a lot during this time) tummy time when you're working on strengthening your neck muscles. You love being on your tummy when you don't have to work. Mostly you are a pretty easy baby as long as you are shown lots of attention ;)
Milestones: You've obviously been packing on the lbs this month. You have grown so much. You also started laughing a little this month. You still haven't rolled over, but you are starting to roll a little on the floor so maybe your close. You lift your head better and better every day, but are a little lazy about it. You do have great head control though and like to sit up with assistance or in the Bumbo. You are grabbing at everything and can hold toys and put them in your mouth. You might be starting to teethe early. I'm seeing a lot of drool and your gums are a little swollen.

Hudson, you are the sunshine of my life. I love you so much. Can't wait to experience all the your firsts with you. You are such a blessing to our family.
