21 Week Update

Well I'm 21 weeks almost 22. The only thing I can say about this week is that I'm getting big. I feel really big and I know I'm only going to get bigger. I don't know how or when it happened, but one day this week I woke up and thought I really look pregnant. None of my pants are fitting properly. In fact today I'm wearing a pair of gray work pants that I will seriously not be wearing after today due to the fact they are digging into my skin. In fact I have eliminated several pairs of pants in my wardrobe this week because I can no longer stand to wear them. A friend of ours was very generous, however, and donated several pairs of maternity pants to me. I guess I'm finally forced to try them on.

Yesterday I went to the doctor for my check-up. Everything was still great. The baby of course was moving around like crazy and it was hard for my doc to measure the heart beat. It was still in the 155-160bpm range. My doctor was really excited when we told her we found out we were having a little girl, and she loved the name. I go back Dec 13th and then Dec 28th. After that I go to her every other week until 36 weeks and then it's every week til delivery. Wow!

The next big adventure for us is traveling to Dallas next week for Thanksgiving. We're going to be staying with my brother and sister-in-law and their dog Pecos like we did last Christmas. I can't wait. It's going to be a short trip. We fly in Thanksgiving morning and fly out Saturday morning, but it will be a nice break. Maybe I'll get to to do a little bit of shopping while I'm there too.

I'll leave you with my 21 week bump photo.

Baby Girl's Room

Well we have officially known for a whole week our precious baby is a little girl. It's so overwhelming at times. I think about her all the time and what kind of baby she'll be and what her personality will be as she grows. I'm so blessed beyond words to be carrying this little miracle. I love her so much already.

Well I've changed my mind on the nursery theme. I knew I would :) I liked my other inspiration, but I came across a few designs that I just fell in love with. So this is what I have so far.

This is the new color scheme

It's bright and girlie and I love it. These are some of the nursery photos I'm drawing inspiration from.

We already purchased her crib and we should be able to pick it up next week. That means we really need to decide on a paint color. I've put some samples of light aqua shades on the wall. I just don't know yet. I'm going to pick up a few more today. This is a picture of the crib. It's the dark espresso color. We'll see what color it really turns out to be. I purchased in online at JCPenny.com

I've also ordered fabric swatches for her bedding. There is a company that makes custom bedding that is comparable to some of the other bedding I've seen around. I want the yellow and white with a little fuchsia accents.

This is a photo of the bedding that will be similar to what I'll have made.

And here are some accessories that I would love to add.

This is a wall decal I would love to put above her crib

Well that's it for now. I can't wait to get started.

It's A Girl!!!

So excited to announce that we are having our precious Hannah Kate. I of course knew it was a girl all along, just a gut feeling, but for them to say it for sure was truly amazing. We had our ultrasound around 8:30am Friday morning. Everything was wonderful. We got to see all parts of her little body including the brain, the heart, spine, and feet. It was really interesting and amazing how much she's grown. They said she weighs 12 oz now. Her heart rate was 155bpm.

When it came time for the look between the legs I could tell almost immediately that there were no little boy parts. The ultrasound tech wanted to make sure we got a good look and after a few shakes of my belly it was confirmed, GIRL!!!

I shed a few tears. I've been waiting my whole life to be a mommy and to know my first little baby is a little girl is so amazing. It would have been great either way, but I have to admit I'm pretty excited about buying little girl stuff.

They were trying to get a good look at her face, but she never did cooperate. This was the only pic we could get.

Little girl hiding her face. Yes, she is definitely my daughter.

Then the fun began of letting all our family know. We decided to use cake balls to share the news. I made vanilla cake the night before and dyed half the balls pink and half blue and dipped them in milk chocolate. So, whenever you bit into them you would know boy or girl. It was just a fun and delicious way to spread the news.

Most thought it was a boy, so they were very shocked but happy it was a girl. I'm just so happy she's healthy and everything is right on track. Let the fun begin.

20 Weeks!!! Half way to Babyland

I'm 20 weeks today. I can't believe it. Sometimes I feel like it would never get here, and other times it feels like it's just flown bye.

I've been looking forward to being 20 weeks for a long time. Mainly because it's the beginning of the other side of pregnancy. The side where I'm not sick all the time. The time where we know what the baby is. The time we can call him or her by name. The time where I feel the baby move a lot more. The time where we get to start shopping!!! The time where we have baby showers. All of this to lead up to the most important time; the time when this miracle baby will be born.

On the eve of "THE ULTRASOUND", I want to let everyone know the names we chose for the baby. So here they are...

We chose the boy name, Hudson first. Before Brandon and I even thought about having a baby we knew if we had a boy someday his name would be Hudson. I heard it somewhere and asked Brandon one day if he liked the name and he did. His middle name is Jacob which is the same as Brandon's. I think they go perfectly together. We also like that his first and last names start with the letter "H".

The boy name was easy. The same thing can not be said for the girl name. We actually just officially decided on the name a few weeks ago. Brandon really liked the idea of the first and last names starting with an "H" just like Hudson. Unfortunately, there aren't too many girls names I like that start with an "H".

Names like Hallie, Hazel, Harmony, Haddie, Heidi, Hillary, Hope and Heaven kept popping up on my searches. I liked the name Hollyn, but Brandon thought it sounded too much like Holland and hated it. I also liked the names Harlow and Haidyn, but I was again shot down by Brandon. Then I suggested we not pick an H name at all. I liked the names Emmerson, Kenley, and Madison, but Brandon insisted on a "H" name.

So we kinda narrowed in down to 2 that we both liked and ended up going with Hannah. I also had a hard time with the middle name. For no reason at all except for that I liked the way it sounds with Hannah I suggested Kate. Brandon liked it a lot. I looked up what Hannah and Kate both meant. Hannah means "God's Grace" and Kate means "Pure". Put them together and her name means "God's Pure Grace". Isn't that beautiful?

So that is the story behind the names. Can't wait to find out tomorrow if Hudson Jacob or Hannah Kate will be joining our family. Either way we are so blessed and excited. Hope he or she cooperates and gives us a good look. Mostly we're just praying that the baby is perfectly healthy.

Halloween 2010

This weekend was a lot fun. Friday night we hit the art trail for Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead. We took in all the skeleton art, Mexican food, dancers, singers, and of course, Day of the Dead bread. Yum!!!

Sunday night, Halloween, we stayed around the house for our Trick-or-Treaters. Our street always has a lot of fun on holidays and Halloween is no exception. All the neighbors come out with their kids and everyone has a great time. Our next door neighbors really do it big. Their yard was covered with spider webs, a giant spider, witches, scarecrows and all sorts of creepy crawly things. They have a sound machine that plays creepy sounds. Kids have to walk up to their front door and grab their candy from our neighbor who is all dressed up with a scary mask on and sitting with a bowl of candy in the dark. It was so much fun to watch all the kids reactions to this creepy house. Most were too scared.

Brandon, of course, has to get into the spirit as well. He got out one of the pedi cabs and got this devil like figure to put in it for his passenger. He draped the cab in black trash bags and spider webs and rode it around the block wearing a skull mask and cape. It was hilarious.

Here's a picture of our neighbor driving the cab.

Can't wait til next Halloween when we'll have a little baby to dress up and join in the fun!

19 Weeks!!!

This is my 18 week belly photo

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 19 Weeks today.

Size of baby: Baby H is the size of an heirloom tomato and weighs 8 1/2 ounces. (length: 6 inches, head to bottom)

Maternity Clothes: I just bought my first maternity clothes. I went to Old Navy last weekend a bought these jeans.

Love, Love, Love them. They were so stylish and comfortable that I bought two pair. I also bought 2 sweaters. My belly is getting bigger and I feel like none of my pants fit right now so I'm going to have to get some more clothes soon.

Gender: We find out in 8 days!!!!

Movement: Yep. I've been feeling little movements here and there. It's amazing!!!

Sleep: I'm sleeping pretty good for now. We got a new mattress so that helps.

Cravings: I'm really into sweets (cookies mostly), fruit, pasta, muffins, and yogurt. I don't like a lot of spicy foods right now because it gives me heartburn and salty foods turn me off too.

Symptoms:
I'm feeling pretty good. Haven't been sick in a while. I'm still tired and have some aches and pains in my back and tail bone area. I also have some heart burn but not too bad.

Best Moment this week: Nothing too eventful this week happened. However, I did get to go to lunch with my friend Shanda and her 2 month old baby, Adele. She cried and fussed the entire lunch, which gave me a glimpse into the future.

Well that's it for now.
