25 Weeks & 100 Days to Go

Wow! Only 100 days til my due date. Eeek, I'm getting excited. Can't wait to meet my little guy. I haven't done very much to prepare for his arrival, but I think about him all the time. My body has been cooperating with me for the most part, but I know soon as I hit the 30 week mark I'll be slowing way down.

Here’s what’s happening in Week 25:

Weight Loss/Gain? I think around 15 pounds total weight gain. I go back to the doctor next Monday and I'll get weighed then.

Cravings: Salads, sandwiches, Mexican food, fruit, cheese, peppers, pickles, and chips and salsa and chocolate :)

Aversions: None. Thank goodness that's over.

Miss Anything?
Not much.
Maybe sleeping through the night.

Gender: BOY!!! Hudson Jacob Hughes

Favorite Moment this Week:
Spending time with my sweet nieces and nephew.

Sleeping:
Sleep is okay. I'm kinda fighting an allergy thing and cough all night.

Stretch Marks? None.

Workout:
Haven't walked too much in the past week. But I've been carrying a toddler around everywhere so that has to count for something.

Clothes: I'm in maternity jeans and some tops. I still can wear my belly band with my work pants, but they're getting a little snug. Can't wait for cooler weather so I can buy a few more things.

Baby Movement: Kicking like crazy. Very low kicks and rolls.

Most looking forward to: Seeing my Nana and other family this weekend.

Our Weekend Recap

What a weekend! I'm so tired after this busy weekend. It was a memorable one though, so I thought I would do a recap.
My Lil Red Raider
Saturday, I went shoe shopping for the hundredth time (slight exaggeration) for Hannah. I'm so sick of buying shoes for this kid that she hates and won't wear. So finally I decided to go to Lil' Footprints and buy shoes I knew would fit and she'll wear. I think I spent close to $60 for two pairs of shoes, but it's worth it. That store is awesome and the lady who helped us was SO helpful and friendly. She said Hannah's feet are really narrow and flat which makes shoe buying a challenge. That explains why she is so picky about her feet.

After that, mom, HK and I stopped by my sister-in-laws folks house to squeeze a quick visit in with my brother and his family. I hadn't seen him, Britt or the twins since April so I was really looking forward to seeing them. Hannah had a blast playing with Harlan's toys and I had a blast loving on my sweet nieces and nephew. Love them so much.
Henley & Hollis
Jonathan and Brittany at the game
We then went home for a little rest before heading off to the Texas Tech tailgate and first home game. UMC was the game day sponsor and we got tickets to a special tailgate and the game. I decided HK was old enough and I was going to attempt to take her to her first Tech game.

We had a great time at the tailgate and made our way to stadium. The walk to the stadium was okay, but the climb to our seats was really hard for this pregnant mommy. I carried her the whole way. I was really winded and hot by the time we sat down.
After the climb
Hannah settled into the stadium really well and made friends with the folks sitting in front of us. Then I felt a drastic drop in temperature and saw an ominous looking cloud headed our way. I decided to go back down and wait out the rain. But by the time I got back down, the announcer came on the loud speaker saying they were delaying game because of lightening until further notice. I knew right then it was time to get my baby out of there.
The view from our section after the rain
I called Brandon to come rescue us and then made my way through the sea of red and black to the exit gate. I carried her a pretty good distance and was so relieved to see Brandon pulling up outside the stadium. It was Hannah's first game day experience and we didn't even get to see the kickoff. Oh well. I tried. We won 61-13. Wreck'Em Tech!!!
The sea of people I had to get through
Sunday, we got up and headed to breakfast and then to church. We were tired from the night before, so we decided to go to the late service at 11:30am instead of the 10am one we usually go to. When we got to Hannah's class she refused to go in. She screamed and cried like she's never done, so we decided not to torture her and take her with us into the church service. She was really good for all the music, but started getting rowdy and restless when it came time to pray. Brandon decided to take her back to her class, but said to come find them if he wasn't back in 10 minutes. We left 10 minutes later and never heard the sermon. Oh well. I tried. That's the theme of my weekend. Ha!

Later that afternoon (because we lost our minds) we decided it would be fun to take Hannah to the Science Spectrum Museum. And because we are glutton for punishment, we thought it would be fun to take Harlan too. So mom, Brandon, and I loaded two toddlers into his pickup and headed to the museum. It was actually a lot of fun. Overall it was a good experience, but toddlers have their limits, so we only stayed about an hour. By the time we went over to Mamere's, dropped Harlan back home, and got back to our house I was ready to pass out. However, it was our nieces 16th birthday party so we only rested for about 20 minutes and we off to that party.
Here We Go :)
Curious Cousins
This weekend, my Nana is coming in from Nebraska. It should be busy, but hopefully I won't be running around as much as I was this weekend.

23 Weeks

I'm now over 5 months pregnant with our little guy. Things have been going well. I feel really good most days. I've started nesting like crazy. We had a garage sale this past weekend and got a lot of stuff cleared out of his closet, our laundry room and office. Garage sales are a lot of work and it's hard to let go of some stuff for way less than what you paid for it. But at the end of the day we are $300 richer and a lot lighter and more organized than we were before. Now I can focus on getting his room together and preparing for his big arrival in December.

Here’s what’s happening in Week 23:

Weight Loss/Gain? I think around 12-15 pounds total weight gain.

Cravings: Salads, sandwiches, Mexican food, fruit, cheese, peppers, pickles, and chips and salsa.

Aversions: None. Thank goodness that's over.

Miss Anything?
Not much.

Gender:
BOY!!! Hudson Jacob Hughes

Favorite Moment this Week:
Getting his room cleared out and just hanging out with HK.

Sleeping:
Sleep is good. I have had the craziest dreams and I have to get up twice a night to pee.

Stretch Marks? None.

Workout:
Haven't walked too much in the past week. Just been busy. Hope to do better this week.

Clothes: My clothes don't fit like they use to. I bought a few more tops from Target's maternity line. I just know the bump is only going to continue to grow in the next few weeks. 10 weeks from now I'm sure nothing will fit right. Ha!

Baby Movement: He kicks me all the time. It's so wonderful. He kicks so low unlike big sis who kicked me in the ribs my entire pregnancy.

Most looking forward to: Ordering his bedding and just starting to work on his room. I'm also looking forward to my family coming to visit in a few weeks. Can't wait to hold my twin nieces again :)

21 Weeks

Well I'm over half way done with this pregnancy. In a little over 4 months this precious boy will be here. It seems to be going by so fast. This weekend we cleaned out his closet and are getting ready to move the guest furniture out and put Hannah's baby furniture in. We are going to use the guest bed for Hannah's big girl bed and buy her a new dresser. Then we'll just use all her stuff for Hudson. I also ordered some fabric swatches for his bedding so I can start the decorating process. These are the colors I'm going with.
Bright Orange
Robin's Egg Blue
Gray and White Polka Dot

Golden Yellow Chevron

I will also use chrome, black and some other colors in art and other accessories for accent colors. Can't wait to get started.

Here’s what’s happening in Week 21:

Weight Loss/Gain? I'm really not sure, but I go to the doctor today to get weighed. Boo.

Cravings: Salads, fruit, cheese, peppers, pickles, and chips and salsa. I don't crave sweets, but if they're in front of me I don't turn them down. Ha!

Aversions: None. Thank goodness that's over.

Miss Anything?
Fitting into my clothes and sleeping comfortably.

Gender:
BOY!!! Hudson Jacob Hughes

Favorite Moment this Week:
Finding out the sex of our baby and buying some cute boy clothes.

Sleeping:
Sleep is okay. Still having crazy dreams and starting to wake up more at night.

Stretch Marks? Not yet. I hope I don't get any. I only got a few with Hannah at the very end of pregnancy.

Workout:
Walking as much as I can. I walked less this week due to the extreme Texas heat and rain.

Clothes: I feel like my bump grew so much in the last two weeks. All my shorts and some shirts officially do not fit comfortably anymore. I feel like I'm gaining weight so differently this pregnancy.

Baby Movement: He's been kicking a lot this week. Mostly low kicks. I feel them mostly at night when I'm laying on my side or when I'm just relaxing.

Most looking forward to: Going to the doctor today and hearing the heartbeat and receiving some baby Gap clothes I ordered for him. 35% off sale last Friday!!!

Gender Reveal

IT'S A BOY!!!
We are so excited to announce that we are expecting a little boy. I still can't believe it. After having a little girl it's hard to imagine a little boy running around too. But I'm so excited and up for this new adventure. We'll play Princesses and Pirates. Dolls and Dinosaurs. Ballet and Baseball. Wow, one of each. We are truly blessed and so thankful for another healthy baby.

Our appointment was at 2pm yesterday. Let me just say it's so hard to wait all day for your appointment and then we had to wait another 30 minutes in the lobby. It was just torture. Thankfully we got the ultrasound tech I was hoping and praying to get. She really is a pro at her job and so so friendly. Which was not our experience at our 12 week appointment.

She started off and right away she noticed that the baby was breech. She told us right then that everything was fine, but it might be difficult to see the necessary boy or girl parts. She started at the top and worked her way down the baby's body. Looking at all parts of the anatomy. It was so awesome to see his brain, his spine, his hands, his heart, and we even got to see his kidneys. Though I'm pretty sure they just looked like little black blobs.

Then she said she was going to try and get a good look between the legs. A few little shakes and she asked, "Can you tell what it is?" I squealed at the sight of something peaking out between the legs, "Is it a boy?" She said YES. Then I just began to cry and Brandon and I just looked at each other beaming. It was such a sweet sweet moment and one I'll always treasure.

We got to see him moving around. Hear his sweet heartbeat (138bpm). She said he also weighed about 13oz. We even saw his arm above his head and he was playing with is feet. It was so cute. We got several glimpses at his face. Way more I thought than we did with Hannah. And there is one pic I really think he looks like big sis.

We can't wait to meet this boy in December. Our precious son, Hudson Jacob Hughes. This is the boy name we chose when we were pregnant with Hannah. We still love it. You can read about it here.

BOY? or GIRL?

Well I've officially made it to the half way point!!! Yay. In honor of this pregnancy milestone I thought we could have some fun.

Is baby Hughes be a BOY? or a GIRL? If you believe in old wives' tales, here's how baby Hughes #2 measures up. I also thought it would be fun to look back at these and compare the tales to when I was pregnant with Hannah.

Carrying High or Low?
I think I always look like I'm carrying high. So let's go with GIRL.
I carried very high with Hannah.

Morning sickness?
Yes. That's suppose to be an indicator that you're having a GIRL.
I had severe morning sickness with HK.

Craving sweet or savory?
The old wives' tales say that craving sweet foods can mean a little girl is on the way, while salty or savory foods indicate you'll be buying blue. I have to say this pregnancy I've been craving way more salty things than sweet. It's a BOY.
I craved lots of sweets with HK.

Chinese birth chart?
The Chinese birth chart told us GIRL.
It also said girl with Hannah.

Skin quality?
They say little girls steal their mama's beauty. If you have clear skin that means you're carrying a boy. My skin has been clear, so it must mean BOY.
No break outs with Hannah either.

Heart rate?
The powers that be say that a girl typically carries a higher heart rate (above 140), and a boy carries a lower. This baby has been in the high 150s at the highest. Last heart rate was 142.
So let's go with GIRL.
Hannah's hear rate was always really high, 155-170.

Clumsier than normal?
If you find yourself clumsier with pregnancy, you're having a boy. If you remain grounded and still in control of your body, it's a girl.
Yes, I feel more clumsier and more forgetful too. So it's a BOY.
I don't remember being clumsy with HK.

Baking Soda Test.
I heard about this from another blog. It's kinda weird, but you put a Tb of baking soda into a cup and pee in that cup first thing in the morning. If you see fizz and foam it's a boy, but if it does nothing it's a girl. Mine fizzed a little and foamed at the top. It's a BOY.
I didn't do this test when I was pregnant the first time.

Mayan Calendar.
Legend has it that the Mayans determined a baby's sex by looking at the mother's age at conception and the year of conception. If both are even or odd, it's a girl. If one's even and one's odd, it's a boy.
I'm 29 and this baby was conceived in 2013. Both are odd, so it's a GIRL.
I was 26 when I got pregnant with HK and it was 2010. So it said I was having a girl that time too.

These are just fun little gender predictors. I don't believe any of them, but it's fun to look at. We find out on Monday at our ultrasound. I'm so excited!!!

19 Weeks

I'm 19 weeks and 3 days along. Almost half way done!!! And I feel great. I'm getting bigger and bigger but this time around I feel so much better than I did with Hannah. I feel like I have way more energy and hardly any pain. With Hannah the tail bone pain and round ligament pain nearly did me in. I contribute this all to my walking. I've been walking at least 5 days a week and it's been helping so much. I love feeling like myself again and I'm really starting to enjoy pregnancy this time around. I don't love being pregnant like some women do, but I can appreciate it more because this is my last one. Only 20 more weeks until we have a baby in our arms. I can't wait.

Here’s what’s happening in Week 19:

Weight Loss/Gain? I'm really not sure, but if I had to guess I would say around 8lbs.

Cravings: Salads, fruit, cheese, peppers, pickles, and chips and salsa. I don't crave sweets, but if they're in front of me I don't turn them down. Ha!

Aversions: I really don't have many. I just don't like to be around anything with a strong odor.

Miss Anything?
Fitting into my clothes. I'm kinda in that in between stage so it's hard to find something to wear in the morning.

Gender:
We find out a week from today!!! I still don't have a clue what it is but we're so excited to find out. We don't care one way or the other. We really and truly are praying for a healthy baby. I will post next Tuesday and reveal the name then.

Favorite Moment this Week: Celebrating my grandmother's 89th birthday on Saturday. 89 and looking fine Mamere!

Sleeping: Sleep is okay. I've been getting up once a night and also having some pretty crazy dreams.

Stretch Marks? Not yet. I hope I don't get any. I only got a few with Hannah at the very end of pregnancy.

Workout:
Walking as much as I can.

Clothes: A lot of my clothes still fit but are getting tighter by the day. Most of my maternity clothes are for fall and winter so I haven't really started wearing any of those yet. I tried some dresses on at Target and Old Navy but didn't like any.

Baby Movement: I've been feeling little flutters here and there. I expect to feel more frequent movements in the next couple of weeks though.

Most looking forward to: Finding out next Monday if our little Christmas miracle is a prince or princess.
